Steinn þessi var reistur skömmu eftir lát Guðrúnar 1901 og hentugast þótti að klappa allan textann á steininn um leið og hann var gerður. Þar fylgdi sá böggull skammrifi, að Jón bóndi var enn bráðlifandi. Tveimur síðustu tölustöfum í dánarári Jóns var því sleppt og járnþynna var fest yfir nafn Jóns og textann þar fyrir ofan.
